A Short Summary Based On The Time's Article About Lena
Lena Zavaroni’s Rise and Risk at Age Ten
Scottish child singer Lena Zavaroni gained international attention at age 10 during a U.S. tour. Her managers, Phil and Dorothy Solomon, lamented strict UK labor laws limiting her performances and considered relocating her to Los Angeles. Concerned that vocal training might ruin her distinctive sound, they withheld lessons—despite risks to her voice’s longevity. A prior young star under their management, Neil Reed, had lost his voice within months. The Solomons hoped Lena’s voice would endure longer, believing girls’ voices are more resilient.
The single entered the UK Offical Charts on 3 February 1974 and its highest Charting persistion was at Number 10 so not topped the chats and as for "Common Market charts" there is no such thing but the UK did join the Common Market in 1973 so clearly that shows how little care was done in the research.
