Lena Zavaroni Lights Up Cardiff
Making her first live appearance in a year, 16-year-old Lena Zavaroni thrilled a packed New Theatre audience with a commanding hour-long performance.
Her stage presence and vocal control—from powerful bursts to tender whispers—affirmed her rising international star status. Highlights included her new single "Jump Down Jimmy" a stylish take on "Dance, Dance, Dance," and an energetic boogie-woogie encore.
Lena was set to appear with comedian Jimmy Cricket in Holiday Startime from 5 July 1980 at the Princess Theatre, Torquay.
The summer show added to Lena’s busy season of live performances, following her return to the stage in Cardiff earlier that June.
