LaserKaraoke: Vol.302 [WKL-302]
Video Sing Along
LaserKaraoke (also known as LD-G) was introduced by Pioneer in 1982, initially for the Japanese market for use in bars and restaurants. A home player was introduced in 1985, and LaserKaraoke was introduced to the US market around 1988.
LaserKaraoke titles consisted of cover version of songs, with on-screen lyrics, and accompanying videos. Singers could choose the backing track alone, or a version with the lead vocals audible so they could practise with unfamiliar songs. The video content meant that the audience had something else to look at other than the singer.
It would be intreasting to know how close the cover singer of Ma! (He’s Making Eyes At Me) got to Lena's version.
